Geography
Aruba is situated on the Caribbean Tectonic Plate. The island is made up of limestone-capped peaks and edges, with cliffs on the northern and northeastern shores and coral ridges on the southern shore. Aruba is the tiniest islet in the Leeward group of the Dutch Caribbean islands which is lying southwest of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea, some 80km towards the northwest of Curacao and 29km north of the Venezuelan peninsula of Paraguana. In past Aruba was a part of the Netherlands Antilles. Later in 1986, it became a distinct self-governing part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Aruba is slightly larger than the Washington DC of United States. The total area of Aruba is 178.9km2.
Climate
The climate of Aruba is tropical, hot throughout the year with the daytime temperatures drift around 29 °C to 31 °C, throughout the year the air is humid but the breeze tempers the heat. Rainfall is uncommon so in an average year, about 500mm of rainfall. The only properly rainy period is from October to December. The sunshine amount is good all year round, for swimming the sea is warm enough throughout the year during this temperature goes from 26 °C from January to April, to 29 °C in October. The best time to visit Aruba goes from mid-February to May, due to least rainy and out of the danger of hurricanes.
